New Moon Aries April 2018

ARIES NEW MOON – 16 APRIL 2018: At the center of unfolding events.

New Moon Aries April 2018

The New Moon takes place in 26°and 02’ of the Sign of Aries. It strongly affects Aries and Libra Signs and also Capricorn and Cancer Signs which are born towards the end of the third decan, as well as those having personal planets or their Ascendant near the 24° -28° degrees of the Cardinal Cross.

The New Moon of April takes place on Sunday night.

Each New Moon is the beginning of a new cycle and when it is a New Moon that takes place in the impulsive, active, dynamic and fully energetic Aries Sign, it is more than just a beginning. It works more like a spontaneous realization that is born within and is pushing us to act, directly and dynamically.

This particular New Moon in Aries, has this character of a sudden awareness, for one more reason, since the Sun and the Moon are conjunct with the planet Uranus.

This New Moon is an awakening.

It is an impulse that pushes us into action.

Unpredictable and unconventional but reinvigorating at the same time.

It marks during the next two weeks, a period where our deep needs for change come to the fore and motivate us.

Possible manifestations of this New Moon in Aries in aspect with the planet Uranus are:

  • Issues related to our ego and our independence are now urgent.
  • We want to be freed from people or situations that hold us back.
  • We feel that the time has come to lay the base for more psychological independence and we are ready to defend our choices.
  • We express our emotional needs without having any further thoughts about how others will get it.
  • We are loaded with nerve and excitement for the imminent renewal.
  • We want the new to come, filled with impatience and without the slightest intention to compromise.
  • We rejuvenate relationships and express our love in a provocative way.

On the chart of this New Moon in Aries, we see that the Sun and the Moon are in a square aspect to planet Pluto.

The rush with which we want to act is pressing us all the more. We are deeply in need of breaking into the new, and in our hurry to do it quickly we become self-compulsive.

But really we do not need to feel pressed at all, or to force others, because Pluto – in addition to the square aspect with the two Lights – is also on a sextile aspect to Jupiter which means that the seed of this New Moon, contains in its core, the very potential for the desired empowerment and transformation.

New Moon Aries April 2018

Mars, the ruler of Aries, is the dispositor of the Moon and the Sun, and from within the Sign of Capricorn dictates that we must kick-start our goals in a practical and organized manner.

Mars is also making a sextile aspect to both Neptune and Jupiter, and thus sets the foundation for our actions to be inspired and moral and eventually creative and beneficial. In the latter additional helps comes from the trine aspect that the red planet is making to Venus.

There is not one square or opposition aspect that prevents Mars, this New Moon’s ruler, from starting the action.

But is everything so easy, really?

Not exactly, because the New Moon in Aries hides a trap that needs attention.

Mercury is stationary at the time of the New Moon and ready to turn direct. This, on one hand is positive, because our thoughts will clear and we will claim our renewal after the insightful retrospect.

On the other hand, Mercury approaches Saturn, which on April 17th,  within less than two days after New Moon, turns retrograde on the 9th degree of the Sign of Capricorn.

This means that in anything this New Moon pushes us to change, in whatever we aim to claim for ourselves, for any initiatives and decisions we take, we have to be very careful.

At a personal level, it is very likely that the New Moon’s initial bust will be gradually tempered as the days go by, and in the end our thoughts will become conservative which may result in us not taking the necessary initiatives.

At the relationships level, we have to be very careful, how we communicate our image and what we want, since misunderstandings, communication difficulties and delays in what we have planned will tend to appear more frequently, as Mercury and Saturn are approaching each other and as we are heading towards the Full Moon on April the 30th.

However, this New Moon in Aries, and depending on the way it aligns to the personal horoscope of each one of us, is important.

It is a New Moon that, despite its unconventional nature and its pressing for immediate change, and regardless of how direct or not our response will be, it does place us actively at the center of unfolding events.

Events that begin with us, and for us.

Full Moon in Libra

FULL MOON IN LIBRA – 31 MARCH 2018: Countdown to Explosion

Full Moon in Libra

The Full Moon takes place at 10° 44’ of the Sign of Libra. It strongly affects Aries, Libra and Capricorn Signs, as well as Cancer Signs, which are born near the end of the 1st decan or near the start of the 2nd decan, as well as those having personal planets or their Ascendant near the degrees 7°- 12° of the Cardinal cross.

The French poet Arthur Rimbaud has a dramatic and intense line in one of his most famous poems, the one entitled “The Drunken Boat”. The line sounds ominous and reads:

“Every moon is atrocious and every sun bitter.”

This line, emotionally charged but beautiful at the same time, can be seen as the key phrase that describes the Full Moon in Libra that takes place on March the 31st. It is an intense, dramatic and climactic Full Moon that will be a test for us and for our relationships, and may leave a bitter taste in our mouth.

In Astrology, each Full Moon is an act of balance. A culmination of a process that starts with the New Moon and leads up to a check in development. It is a time when our needs are felt intensely and are brought to the fore under the light of the Sun.  An integration between what we need and what we want is the challenge.

This Full Moon occurs in the Sign of Libra. We try to rationalize our emotions and balance how we interact with others. Exactly opposite, the Sun, our conscious self, projects our ego onto these emotions and asserts “Me” versus “We”.

This act of balance may have been easier to achieve in the past, when similar Full Moons were happening on this same axis of Libra – Aries. But now, with this specific Full Moon in Libra, to be able to balance the increasing pressure it is something that really requires tremendous skills.

Full Moon in Libra 2018

This Full Moon takes place within a set of dynamic aspects with nearly no outlet for the tension to ease. Since it concerns relationships, and strongly affects our interactions with others, this is a Full Moon that throws relations “into the furious lashing of the tides”, to use one more poetic image from Rimbaud’s poem.

Mercury is retrograde in Aries and conjunct with the Sun. Misunderstandings and a proneness to quarrel is the mode of operation of Mercury when the planet is Retrograde in Aries. Speech becomes acrimonious within the hot-tempered Sign of Aries and the mind though acute is restless.  This negative mindset is fueled by the Sun’s excessive pride in the Sign of its exaltation.

At the same time our emotions cannot be put to words and all this tension is projected onto important others, friends, lovers, collaborators.

As if these were not enough, the Full Moon axis is making a tough T-Square formation with Mars and Saturn, as Mars the planet of war and aggression approaches Saturn on the 8th degree of the Sign of Capricorn.

Focused action to achieve our goals becomes inhibited and frustration builds up.

Mars is also out of bounds and this means that the aggressive qualities of the planet will be uncontrolled.

This explosive combination of the two malefics in their Signs of Exaltation and Rulership respectively, could be handled, if it were not for the T-Square. T- Squares are not easy to handle and especially when, as is the case with this T – Square, the formation takes place within Cardinal Signs, something that means that the tension will be resolved through action, with passion and with impulsive self-expression.

The countdown to explosion goes like this:

  • Mercury retrograde already hazy with unexpressed emotions squares Saturn. Thoughts become darker and pessimistic. Bad News.
  • Mercury squares Mars: We want to yell and shout. Hard words, harsh words. Impatient talks and rushed thoughts. Disagreements and angered communication.
  • Moon squares Mars: Easily heart feelings. Hot tempered emotions. Impulsive actions as a result of pent-up emotions.
  • Moon squares Saturn: Mood is down, feeling loathsome and lonesome.
  • Sun squares Saturn: Ego clashes authority figures. Lawlessness and impatience. A test of our will to compromise.
  • Sun squares Mars: Act impulsively, assert your ego ten times more than necessary, outburst of energy and aggression.

No need to say more… you get the general idea.

All relationships will be put to a stress-test during this Full Moon. It will be very difficult for anyone to be able to balance all this pressure and not to burst out towards one extreme. Emotional or Egotistical.

Try to stay calm and cool-headed.

Also beware of accidents because this tension will find a way to externalize itself with every means possible.

I wish everyone to steer harmless through the tempest of this Full Moon and as another line of Rimbaud’s poem reads, I wish everyone blessed with sea awakening, lighter than cork, to dance the waves”.

New Moon Aries

FULL MOON IN ARIES – 5 OCTOBER 2017: Boldness & Charm

New Moon Aries

A Full Moon, with a very intense energy, takes place in the autumn sky on the evening of October 5th with the Moon at 12°42′ degrees of Aries opposing the Sun at Libra.

Like every Full Moon, this one also, brings emotional charge and intense feelings.

The Moon is in Aries and fills our emotional landscape with excitement and a need for immediate action. It gives vitality and spontaneity, making us at the same time, impatient, bold or even reckless. We tend to seek immediate outlets for our emotions.

Exactly opposite the Moon, and in contrast to this impulse to promptly claim what we feel we need, the Sun symbolically lightens our emotional world, and from within the sign of Libra, seeks balance and tolerance.

Any emotional excitement of the moon in Aries will not bring the desired harmony in relations that the Sun in Libra seeks. Especially with this Full Moon where Mercury is conjunct the Sun, common sense and logic require discussions and a climate of co-operation in order to avoid conflicts.

We have to communicate but at the same time we must be careful of what we are saying and how we are saying it, because Mercury in opposition with the Moon brings difficulties in expression and can make us communicate what we feel in a totally erroneous manner.

Pluto, that turned direct a few days earlier, is making a square aspect to both the Moon and the Sun so caution is also needed not to allow any elements of jealousy, repressed feelings or emotional manipulation, to stain our relationships. The Cardinal Signs in particular (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) should pay special attention to this aspect since they are the main recipients of its energy.

New Moon in Aries 2017- Chart

Mars and Venus are in tight conjunction at 19° of Virgo and at the same time each one is forming a trine aspect with Pluto and a square aspect with Saturn.

This conjunction is the secret key to the chart of this Full Moon.

Mars rules the Moon in Aries and Venus rules the Sun in Libra. So the Mars and Venus conjunction may be the best way to help us eventually balance the opposition between the two lights, since the Sun and the Moon will “talk” to each other through their dispositors.

What does this mean?

This means that if we use the positive elements of this conjunction, we can express our feelings with understanding for the other side, without at the same time compromising our very own will and reducing our independence.

This will happen because the Mars – Venus conjunction will give active initiative and dynamism in how we relate while at the same time will fill us with charm, confidence, making us daring and boldly attractive.

So instead of consuming ourselves to emotional tensions, to the “me” and the “you”, who is to blame and why to blame, we will have the boldness and the charm to not fear and to not hesitate to deal with any difficulties that the squares with Saturn entail, armed with the endurance, and the power of the trines with Pluto.

This Full Moon awakens us, and brings once more to the fore all those considerations that we have temporarily put aside, as a result of the practical issues raised by the New Moon in Virgo 14 days ago.

This Full Moon in Aries demands from us boldness (Mars) and charm (Venus) so that we:

  • claim our right, not aggressively, but with grace,
  • directly state what it is we want,
  • express our feelings with passion,
  • defend our personal value and our individuality,
  • ask for more fulfilment of our emotional needs,
  • completely renew our relationships

but it also allows us to act in such a manner so that we can achieve all these, by having inner harmony with ourselves and outer harmony with the significant others.

Venus Retrograde

VENUS RETROGRADE (March 4th – April 15th)

Venus Retrograde

Venus, the planet of Love is going to turn retrograde within the next hours. During her retrograde course Venus will move backwards through Aries and will gradually retreat into the sign of Pisces on April the 3rd, where she will continue her retrogration until April the 16th.

Andy Warhol, in his painting “Details of Renaissance Paintings, Botticelli, Birth of Venus”, is re-visiting Botticelli’s Venus and re-paints her with a pop aesthetics in order to comment on the commercialisation of the ideal of Love, the superficiality of being vain and to make the viewer stop and ponder on the notions of “relating” and “beauty”.

That is exactly what Venus is callings us to do while she will be retrograde. A re-evaluation of our own self-worth, our own internal beauty. We are called to re-assess the expectations we have from others and at the same time to see how it is that we ourselves relate.

During the retrograde movement we turn inwards and we wonder:

  • What is that we want from a relationship and from our partner?
  • Which are the motivations and our deepest desires?
  • Do we want to be in a relationship just only for the sake of not being alone?
  • Is our relationship superficial, pop and "appearances-only", lacking meaningful sharing?
  • Are we appreciated as much as we deserve? Do we return appreciation and value our partner?

The very nature of these questions, whether we are in a relationship or not, concerns first and most to ourselves and while it mainly relates to love relations it also touches, one to one partnerships, business relations and our socialising in general.

The retrograde movement brings Venus backwards and this may mean that a person from the past re-appears. If this is the case, it only happens for a reason. We must “remember” the relationship we have had with this person in the past, what it meant then and what it means now, for our present and for any existing relations or commitments. We are called to redefine this relation with the past person in a clear and karmic – free way.

From April the 3rd when Venus exalted in Pisces will be attired with romanticism, self -sacrifice and utmost idealism, our need to belong will be great and will feel like nostalgia to return to the very ideal of love that has been lost.

All this is a necessary part in a process of introspection that will clear out situations, will make us feel better with ourselves and will prepare us to be more sociable and will revitalise our relationships when Venus will turn direct again.

CLINT EASTWOOD – MARS in the 6th HOUSE

Picture5

The 6th house relates to health and work and in Clint Eastwood’s chart this house is greatly emphasized. Having Mars, the planet of stamina and physicality in the 6th House, placed in its house of joy, and being in Aries, the sign of Mars rulership, the placement is very strong and the planet becomes fully expressed.

In Aries, a sign that is associated with energy and vitality, Mars becomes the driving force behind his work, is expressed with athletic and healthy conscious actions, and is recharged with energizing vigor. Clint Eastwood, having an Aries in the 6th house that wants to be in charge of health matters, is a fitness aficionado since a teenager, and practices healthful eating and daily Transcendental Meditation.

He has played numerous demanding physical roles, climbing in «The Eiger Sanction», running upon rooftops in «Dirty Harry» or jogging alongside the president’s limo in «In the Line of Fire». His physical stamina at 76 is still extraordinary, as it was in 1951, when forced to swim 3 miles to safety after a plane he was boarding crashed into the sea.

Active and prolific in his work, he is a director famous for disliking to take many takes of the same shot when filming, and stays with the first one or two.  A sign of his 6th house Sign’s impatience and decisiveness.

In this iconic photo from the movie "Where Eagles Dare", Clint Eastwood plays a commando who has parachute dropped high in the Alps, to secretly raid a castle and save a General. This high octane role is so characteristic of his highly dignified Mars, a planet that really cries out from his chart:

"Whatever the problem is, Clint Eastwood is gonna fix it".
