New Moon in Aries 2017

FULL MOON IN ARIES – 5 OCTOBER 2017: Boldness & Charm

New Moon in Aries 2017

A Full Moon, with a very intense energy, takes place in the autumn sky on the evening of October 5th with the Moon at 12°42′ degrees of Aries opposing the Sun at Libra.

Like every Full Moon, this one also, brings emotional charge and intense feelings.

The Moon is in Aries and fills our emotional landscape with excitement and a need for immediate action. It gives vitality and spontaneity, making us at the same time, impatient, bold or even reckless. We tend to seek immediate outlets for our emotions.

Exactly opposite the Moon, and in contrast to this impulse to promptly claim what we feel we need, the Sun symbolically lightens our emotional world, and from within the sign of Libra, seeks balance and tolerance.

Any emotional excitement of the moon in Aries will not bring the desired harmony in relations that the Sun in Libra seeks. Especially with this Full Moon where Mercury is conjunct the Sun, common sense and logic require discussions and a climate of co-operation in order to avoid conflicts.

We have to communicate but at the same time we must be careful of what we are saying and how we are saying it, because Mercury in opposition with the Moon brings difficulties in expression and can make us communicate what we feel in a totally erroneous manner.

Pluto, that turned direct a few days earlier, is making a square aspect to both the Moon and the Sun so caution is also needed not to allow any elements of jealousy, repressed feelings or emotional manipulation, to stain our relationships. The Cardinal Signs in particular (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) should pay special attention to this aspect since they are the main recipients of its energy.

New Moon in Aries 2017- Chart

Mars and Venus are in tight conjunction at 19° of Virgo and at the same time each one is forming a trine aspect with Pluto and a square aspect with Saturn.

This conjunction is the secret key to the chart of this Full Moon.

Mars rules the Moon in Aries and Venus rules the Sun in Libra. So the Mars and Venus conjunction may be the best way to help us eventually balance the opposition between the two lights, since the Sun and the Moon will “talk” to each other through their dispositors.

What does this mean?

This means that if we use the positive elements of this conjunction, we can express our feelings with understanding for the other side, without at the same time compromising our very own will and reducing our independence.

This will happen because the Mars – Venus conjunction will give active initiative and dynamism in how we relate while at the same time will fill us with charm, confidence, making us daring and boldly attractive.

So instead of consuming ourselves to emotional tensions, to the “me” and the “you”, who is to blame and why to blame, we will have the boldness and the charm to not fear and to not hesitate to deal with any difficulties that the squares with Saturn entail, armed with the endurance, and the power of the trines with Pluto.

This Full Moon awakens us, and brings once more to the fore all those considerations that we have temporarily put aside, as a result of the practical issues raised by the New Moon in Virgo 14 days ago.

This Full Moon in Aries demands from us boldness (Mars) and charm (Venus) so that we:

  • claim our right, not aggressively, but with grace,
  • directly state what it is we want,
  • express our feelings with passion,
  • defend our personal value and our individuality,
  • ask for more fulfilment of our emotional needs,
  • completely renew our relationships

but it also allows us to act in such a manner so that we can achieve all these, by having inner harmony with ourselves and outer harmony with the significant others.

Venus Retrograde

VENUS RETROGRADE (March 4th – April 15th)

Venus Retrograde

Venus, the planet of Love is going to turn retrograde within the next hours. During her retrograde course Venus will move backwards through Aries and will gradually retreat into the sign of Pisces on April the 3rd, where she will continue her retrogration until April the 16th.

Andy Warhol, in his painting “Details of Renaissance Paintings, Botticelli, Birth of Venus”, is re-visiting Botticelli’s Venus and re-paints her with a pop aesthetics in order to comment on the commercialisation of the ideal of Love, the superficiality of being vain and to make the viewer stop and ponder on the notions of “relating” and “beauty”.

That is exactly what Venus is callings us to do while she will be retrograde. A re-evaluation of our own self-worth, our own internal beauty. We are called to re-assess the expectations we have from others and at the same time to see how it is that we ourselves relate.

During the retrograde movement we turn inwards and we wonder:

  • What is that we want from a relationship and from our partner?
  • Which are the motivations and our deepest desires?
  • Do we want to be in a relationship just only for the sake of not being alone?
  • Is our relationship superficial, pop and “appearances-only”, lacking meaningful sharing?
  • Are we appreciated as much as we deserve? Do we return appreciation and value our partner?

The very nature of these questions, whether we are in a relationship or not, concerns first and most to ourselves and while it mainly relates to love relations it also touches, one to one partnerships, business relations and our socialising in general.

The retrograde movement brings Venus backwards and this may mean that a person from the past re-appears. If this is the case, it only happens for a reason. We must “remember” the relationship we have had with this person in the past, what it meant then and what it means now, for our present and for any existing relations or commitments. We are called to redefine this relation with the past person in a clear and karmic – free way.

From April the 3rd when Venus exalted in Pisces will be attired with romanticism, self -sacrifice and utmost idealism, our need to belong will be great and will feel like nostalgia to return to the very ideal of love that has been lost.

All this is a necessary part in a process of introspection that will clear out situations, will make us feel better with ourselves and will prepare us to be more sociable and will revitalise our relationships when Venus will turn direct again.

The 6th house relates to health and work and in Clint Eastwood’s chart this house is greatly emphasized. Having Mars, the planet of stamina and physicality in the 6th House, placed in its house of joy, and being in Aries, the sign of Mars rulership, the placement is very strong and the planet becomes fully expressed.

In Aries, a sign that is associated with energy and vitality, Mars becomes the driving force behind his work, is expressed with athletic and healthy conscious actions, and is recharged with energizing vigor. Clint Eastwood, having an Aries in the 6th house that wants to be in charge of health matters, is a fitness aficionado since a teenager, and practices healthful eating and daily Transcendental Meditation.

He has played numerous demanding physical roles, climbing in «The Eiger Sanction», running upon rooftops in «Dirty Harry» or jogging alongside the president’s limo in «In the Line of Fire». His physical stamina at 76 is still extraordinary, as it was in 1951, when forced to swim 3 miles to safety after a plane he was boarding crashed into the sea.

Active and prolific in his work, he is a director famous for disliking to take many takes of the same shot when filming, and stays with the first one or two.  A sign of his 6th house Sign’s impatience and decisiveness.

In this iconic photo from the movie “Where Eagles Dare”, Clint Eastwood plays a commando who has parachute dropped high in the Alps, to secretly raid a castle and save a General. This high octane role is so characteristic of his highly dignified Mars, a planet that really cries out from his chart:

“Whatever the problem is, Clint Eastwood is gonna fix it”.
