An important and very special sextile aspect between Venus and Mars occurs on March 11, 2023.

Venus is the archetype of beauty, of what we like, how likeable we feel and also how much we are liked. Mars is the libido of desire, lust and masculine principle and has opportunities with this meeting as Mars claims her, wants her and is ready to take the initiative to make her his.

An aspect of erotic passion but also a creative aspect since harmony is combined with action and thus the creation is born as the fruit of the union of the two sexual archetypes Venus and Mars.

How wonderful you will remark so it is possible to meet someone or someone, to feel the attraction or to indulge in the charm that someone or someone exerts on us.

 

YES… but not ONLY THOSE and not THAT EXACTLY…

Looking synthetically and in its entirety at how the cycle of the two planets moves I notice some very specific characteristics.

While Mars and Venus formed aspects to each other six times(!) in 2022, their sextile on March 11 will be their third in a row in 2023… and their next aspect will again be a sextile but… almost a year(!) from today and specifically on February 22, 2024!

What does this mean?

And why is it happening…?

 

Aside from the fact that the weeks just before and after Valentine’s Day in 2024 will be erotic, in the present and for 2023 it means that until then… the two planets will NOT come into an exact Ptolemaic aspect.

This is because as Venus will begin to approach Mars to conjunction, it will reach within five degrees of Mars in early July when both planets will be in Leo, and there she will once again begin to move away from him as Mars will gain speed while Venus will instead further reduce hers, until she turns retrograde on July 22, 2023.

So it’s as if she is turning her back on him, as if she is hesitant to go, as if she is at that time having second thoughts or just wants to take her time to better assess the situation.

But she doesn’t let him but rather takes her time, does her re-calculation and after turning direct she begins to form a prolonged sextile with him between about September 10th and October 10th 2023.

A sextile which will be NEARLY formed as the two planets approach within 1 degree of each other, but which will NOT FINALLY be EXACT, until four more months will pass and we arrive on February 22, 2024!

It’s as if the two lovers want to be together, or are already together, just that something is still not working the way they want it to, something is not exactly the way Venus wants it to be, or something is not the way Mars wants it to be.

What does it all mean?

SINGLE ONES
New relationships that you make in the coming weeks have a very good chance of developing but will go through a period of revision in the summer before finally smoothing out gradually in September-October.

IN A RELATIONSHIP
If you are considering the next step this can be taken, just be prepared for “ups and downs” until you both feel equally prepared/ready. Generally this is a time when the relationship will deepen further after first going through a period of necessary work on yourselves.

IF YOU WANT TO RECONNECT
For those of you who have broken up and are considering a reunion the next few days through March 16 are ideal. After that things get more difficult until July when Venus retrograde will bring possibilities again.

The Full Moon takes place at 16° 40′ of the Sign of Virgo. It strongly affects Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, Sagittarius, Taurus, Capricorn, Scorpio, and Cancer Signs, who are born near the middle of the second decan.

It also affects those of you who have personal planets, Ascendant or Midheaven at degrees 13° – 19° of the above signs.

 

A difficult and separative Full Moon, which is once again crucial for relationships, takes place on March 7 in the sign of Virgo.

Each Full Moon brings to light tensions that have been bottled up and stirs up our emotions. It is a time of culmination of events and situations.

If we look at the Full Moon chart the first thing that strikes us is that the Moon is located alone in the sign of Virgo, lonely and withdrawn, with all the other planets in the opposite hemisphere of the chart. A formation that emphasizes the tension that can arise in the relationships of those directly affected by this Full Moon since it is the emotions and psyche that are the main focus.

The Moon in Virgo causes us to analyze how we feel. Feelings are put through the filter; everything is categorized and scrutinized. Every need is rationalized and analyzed.

We do this, not in an attempt to deny and distance ourselves from our feelings, but instead in an attempt to figure out how what we are feeling can serve us on a practical level.

 

Opposite her, in the vastness of Pisces, the Sun and Neptune are conjunct. The ultimate ideal. Dream and creativity, imagination and intoxication, idealization and ego transcendence. Excessive idealism and selflessness.

But at the same time, Neptune in opposition to the Moon creates deceptive emotions. It creates illusions, and tendencies to escape. Excessive sentimentality and needs mixed with guilt.

Moon opposes Mercury and emotions are vague, double, and changing. Our hearts want one thing, and our minds say another, and while the heart yearns for the dream it is stuck in the mundane environment of everyday life…

At the same time, thoughts are confused and full of on-criticism and find it difficult to believe in the Dream.

Instead of judging with clarity the Moon on the contrary becomes more confused and cannot get out of the mental mazes.

This lack of Faith results from the very difficult position Mars has in the chart of this Full Moon.

Out of Bounds, within Gemini, it is square to the Full Moon. Tension, nervousness, selfishness, agitation are prevalent, and caution is needed in what we say and how we say it.

Mars is ruled by Mercury in Pisces, which is ruled by Neptune, a Neptune which is in opposition to the Moon and square to Mars. Chaos and confusion! Sharp harsh words, dilemmas. Illusions and disappointments, and inability to act as nothing seems clear.

Venus is in detriment in Aries having just left a conjunction aspect with Jupiter and Chiron and while in love, she’s also quite feisty. In her quincunx to the Moon, she should be willing to heal wounds, but because she is in detriment and ruled by Mars it is easiest for her to escalate the tension and bring on ruptures.

 

The romantic (Venus) seems incompatible with the practical issues that arise. Love is hurt by Mars square the Full Moon, and eroticism is castrated by the inability to discern.

Venus’ sextile to Mars is the only positive aspect that can work and reignite the spark, but Mars is out of bounds and with difficult aspects.

And Uranus, in sextile to the Sun and trine to the Moon, while under other conditions could function by bringing renewal of emotion and opportunities for change, under the existing ones, as ruled by Venus in debility, intensifies deliverance through reaction, opposition, rebellion or even final separation, which feels like redemption.

Saturn in the very last minute of the Aquarius Zodiac at 29°59′, at the very last minute of the anaeretic degree, and also in trine and sextile to the Nodes of the Moon, speaks of a definitive closing of cycles which nevertheless aim to move us forward.

This Full Moon in Virgo will be a test for relationships will be DECISIVE and CRITICAL.

Hopefully with Saturn entering Pisces, the maturity will be again found to make your dreams for you and your partner come true.

Yes, this Full Moon in Virgo will shake us up, confuse us, make us feel regret and guilt. It will affect our relationships as any Full Moon does. Foggy, nervous, and difficult.

Under this Moon… try to draw on your reserve of patience, and work with a willingness to work things for the best, for you and your loved ones.

The New Moon in Capricorn is a positive moon for everyone.

Very positive for TAURUS, VIRGO, CAPRICORN, SCORPIO, and PISCES persons born in the very first days of their Sign, or those of you who have personal planets or angles in your Horoscope near the degrees 0°-4° or 14°-18° of the above Zodiac signs.

Positive also for ARIES, CANCER, LIBRA persons born in the very first days of their Sign, or those of you who have personal planets or angles in your Horoscope near the degrees 0°-4° of the above Zodiac signs.

As well as for ARIES, GEMINI, LEO, AQUARIUS, and SAGITTARIUS persons born in the very last days of their Sign, or those of you who have personal planets or angles in your Horoscope near the degrees 28°-29°59’ of the above Zodiac signs.

Finally, a beautiful New Moon happens two days before Christmas on December 23rd. It is a Moon which takes place at 1°32′ of CAPRICORN and it holds a lot of potential!

Like all New Moons, this one too is a seed of a new beginning, a fresh start or something new appearing in the area of your horoscope in which it happens.

With the New Moon in the sign of CAPRICORN this seed is practical in nature and is blessed with a long-term perspective. Anything that begins now will have a solid foundation and the potential to grow even more and have great boom.

Naturally with a New Moon in CAPRICORN our professional matters and ambitions are favored. It is an ideal time to set new goals, organize plans about practical matters and deal with anything new in a serious, organized and responsible manner.

Full of blessings and possibilities everything that begins under this New Moon with Jupiter powerful at 0° degree of ARIES but also in a square aspect to the two Lights.

All you need is to act carefully, organized and with faith in yourself, having first measured the risks and without haste. The seed planted now needs patience and perseverance, but it will yield plentiful rewards.

Capricorn is the Sign of the Material Plane, as I have written before, and therefore this New Moon also hides many possibilities for manifesting your intentions. On a purely energetic level, visualize, set practical intentions, have faith in your abilities, and dare to fearlessly take the first steps in order to see these intentions made manifest during the next 6 months.

The sextile that NEPTUNE in PISCES makes to MERCURY in CAPRICORN is an aspect that can make dreams come true, give us inspiration that is directed at practical issues, as well as the necessary alignment of the intellect with the universal, so that we can see beyond material intentions and feel the quintessence of our ambition at the level of the soul.

Uranus from TAURUS in a trine to VENUS in CAPRICORN is the aspect, which for those of you who belong to the Earth signs and have personal planets or your Ascendant between 14°-18° degrees, helps to make a new relationship, an acquaintance or further open your social circle with this New Moon.

The New Moon takes place at 04°25’ of the Sign of Scorpio. It mainly affects Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius persons, who are born in the first decan, as well as for those having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 02° – 06° degrees of the Signs mentioned.

The New Moon also affects the Signs of the Cardinal Cross (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), of the second decan and near 15° degree, or those having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 13° – 17° degrees of the Cardinal Signs.

A New Moon that causes explosive situations, anger, separations, deceptive allure, and idealizations of lovers, is taking place on the night of October the 27th or the 28th, depending on where in the world you stand as you look at the sky.

It is a mix of incompatible and contradictory energies, this Moon, that takes place at 4° 25’ of the Sign of Scorpio.

 

New Moon in Scorpio

When the Sun is in Scorpio our will is strengthened, desires are deep and everything takes on an existential quality. All issues are approached with a “matter of life and death” attitude. They are important because we feel important and we can display intensity of will.

The Moon in Scorpio is intense emotions, buried emotions, taboo emotions. It is supercharged psychological intensity, urges of the psyche powerful enough to transform.

Each New Moon in Scorpio combines emotional depth with strong will and thus becomes a source of psychological strength.

With this particular New Moon in Scorpio, however, this strength is expressed rather suddenly, rather unexpectedly, and brings tension to that area of our life that is indicated by the House in which it falls on our horoscope.

 

Uranus in opposition to the New Moon

Planet Uranus is almost precisely in an opposition to the New Moon, so all of the Scorpio’s emotional intensity and need for transformation makes us excited, restless, needing our independence and fills us with nervousness.

Anything that is not as we would want and would desire, fills us with frustration. We want the world and now we want it now, in an expression of intense determination that comes out jerkily.

Especially the opposition of Uranus to the Sun brings rebelliousness, strong independence and a need to escape from manipulative and emotionally complex relationships.

Attention is needed, because this electrically charged New Moon brings tensions to the area that activates in our horoscope, brings abrupt changes that surprise us, emotional coldness, cracks in relationships or even breakups.

 

Mars Square Saturn

As if this isn’t enough, Mars from Libra makes a difficult square to Saturn in Capricorn. An aspect that intensifies the situation, acting as a slow wick that will eventually trigger the explosive power that is contained in this New Moon.

Anger, repressed egoism, a feeling that “we cannot”, are possible manifestations of this square.

We have to exert more effort to keep up the pretenses since we are unable to find a subtler way to address the issues. We feel frustration.

It is a very dynamic aspect that makes us unable to keep our patience, brings low libido, repressed passions. It is an aspect that may even bring conflict with the law and other forms of authority.

 

Mars inconjunct Neptune

This, in my opinion, is the worst aspect of this New Moon.

Mars, already in a square to Saturn, is simultaneously inconjunct to Neptune. The blockage of energy meets the false expectations. Fallen libido is channeled to idealism.

Mars in Libra is indecisive and as square to Saturn, is oppressed and unable to react to the spell that Neptune brings. Love, instead of being externalized, becomes not expressed, and here lies the risk of frustration.

Passion may light up for a while, but in this environment of pressure, and with so many false expectations, in its best will bring meaningless sexual intercourse, which will drain us psychologically, and in its worst will bring unrequited love and desires that border on the “unhealthy”.

 

Neptune Sextile Saturn

This is the only helpful aspect of this New Moon, an aspect that closes the formation of the Learning Trine that this chart has. An aspect formation between Saturn, Mars, and Neptune, that hides a small lesson.

It is an aspect that comes as a continuation of the anger/pressure of the Mars – Saturn square, and the frustration that the disappointment of the Mars – Neptune inconjunct.

The learning process is completed only after the pressure and the frustration, as we are now learning to begin from a more realistic base and to have faith in our potential.

The sooner we overcome the first two phases of the formation, and the more quickly we absorb the learning, the better it is.

Where we have to pay attention

As you see, this New Moon in Scorpio requires special attention as it brings either tension or energy loss.

Especially the Fixed Signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) of the first decan, as well as the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) of the second decan, should watch out, because this New Moon may:

  • relate to unexpected events that challenge what is familiar.
  • bring tensions that will shake their emotional security and their love life.
  • cause rash and unthoughtful reactions.
  • exaggerate any feelings of oppression and weight felt in our relationships, and trigger a rethinking of “how” and “why” we are with the other person.
  • create foggy situations and mistaken expectations, either erotically or sexually, resulting in frustration and spending of energy.
  • bring tensions, anger, and crises that will lead to breakups and separations.

So, having the necessary patience to remain polite, to be diplomatic, to be less reactive and more compromising, are the only ways to avoid the tensions.

Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces Signs are less affected by the energy of the New Moon, but nevertheless, they also have to be careful:

  • for viruses,
  • And to not be left on the delusional charm of temporary eroticism. Or even if they do, at least to know what is happening to them and why they do it.

 

Postscript

This New Moon at a mundane level is likely to coincide with explosions, military clashes, aggressive actions (already being prepared for Syria), and the usage of chemical weapons.

 

In any case, it is an intense New Moon, one that we astrologers are not happy to analyze, with a very intense Scorpio flair, as you will come to experience it, and which, sooner or later…

…shall pass.

The New Moon takes place at 06°46’ of the Sign of Virgo. The stage has been set with the two previous lunations, where the planet Venus played a key role in each one. At the beginning of the month with the New Moon in Leo, Venus was close to the two Lights and in a square with planet Uranus, bringing excitement and challenges in our love life and personal relations.

Two weeks later with the Full Moon in Aquarius, Venus was in it superior conjunction to the Sun, highlighting issues of relating, helping us to reshape our values and the very sense of who or what really worths we deem valuable.

Act Three – NEW MOON IN VIRGO

Each New Moon is a beginning, a reset, a new awareness.

When the New Moon is in the Sign of Virgo then it is a time to start again paying attention to the practical and that which best serves us. Virgo is a Sign that can build a completely new world out of the most ordinary things.

It can create meaning just by the mere repetition of a habit or a ritual.

Whether it is the repeated moves that weave cloth, the sewing of haute couture, our daily nutrition program followed with reverence, or the repetition of a Yoga posture, it is the small and the finest that defines us.

Now in this specific New Moon, which as all New Moons in Virgo is perfect for beginning a daily routine, health practice, attend to any details, planet Venus once more plays a major role.

Venus that in its participation to the two previous lunations challenged our love life and questioned what it is that is valuable.
