SOLAR ECLIPSE 4 DECEMBER 2021

By astrologer, Andrew Ifandis

The Solar Eclipse takes place in the sign of Sagittarius, and is of particular importance for those of you who belong to the signs of the Mutable Cross (Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo and Pisces), born in the calendar periods from March 1 to 5, from June 1 to 5, from September 3 to 7, and from December 2 to 6.

Also to those of you who have personal planets or horoscope angles near degrees 11° – 15° of the above Zodiac signs.

It works positively for Aries born from March 31 to April 3 and for and Leos born from August 3 to August 7.

Watch out for tensions Scorpios, Leos, Taurus, Aquarians, those born around the end of the first decanate or born at the beginning of the third decanate of their Zodiac sign.

The Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius takes place on 4 December 2021 at 12°22′ of the Sign.

It is the last one that takes place on the Gemini – Sagittarius axis, and so it draws the curtain on a series of eclipses that for the past year and a half have been dealing with the dipoles: information and knowledge, between sterile knowledge and wisdom-filled truth.

Eclipses that have made us search for meaning and truth, as the non-stop stimuli of reality around us and a plethora of information (Gemini), we have been challenged to understand what is really going on and what the big picture is (Sagittarius).

All of this has created a huge confusion about what the “Truth” ultimately is, and a huge confusion in general.

The world is changing…

and with this Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius, it is now time to clearly discern and discover what is OUR personal Truth. The one that is within us, buried by the buzz and din around us.

Yes… “The wheat is separated from the chaff… The world is sifted” (*)

and this eclipse marks a whole new understanding and perception of things. A new perception and understanding for the issues relating to the house it affects on our horoscope, but also a new shift in our general ethics and philosophy.

Over the next six months, de facto, we will form a new value system and change mindsets.

This is the time wherein, whether we belong “here” or “there” finally locks, and where the contradictory dynamics we have experienced up to now, finally crystallize into an attitude of life. It is in the coming weeks, months that we will decide where we stand among the multi-prismatic kaleidoscope of division and many contradictory views.

But why is it that this happens now, why won’t it happen later, or why hasn’t it happened before? You probably wonder.

But the answer is very simple.

Because this is the LAST eclipse taking place on the axis of reception, understanding, analysis, perception, worldview, mentality, philosophy and ethics, and it will be 9 years before something similar.

This eclipse completes the processes and themes of all these previous eclipses.

It creates something new, and at its best, this eclipse is the seeding of a new understanding that makes us choose Wisely and see Clearly.

For some of you it may bring Faith, a broader understanding, or a different understanding of situations and things in the area of the horoscope that is involved.

To others it may bring fanaticism, ideological rigidity, and a tendency towards self-justification through a “I know it all” mindset. It may bring frivolity, irresponsible optimism or even blind faith that all is well and right.

In any case, what the eclipse does is that it brings the dynamics of the Saturn square Uranus right on our perceptive center!!.

The Saturn-Uranus square falls directly on the two Lights of the eclipse, since Saturn is sextile to the Lights, while Uranus is inconjunct, and thus a Grand Learning Triangle.

Grand Learning Triangle is an astrological formation that attempts to resolve the conflict between two opposing forces in a third way. Adopting a different look look at the problem.

That’s why I say this eclipse makes us see things differently.

It brings the Saturn-Uranus conflict and the conflict between truth and lies upon us. Within us. In our consciousness (Sun) and our Soul (Moon). It is a perceptual renewal and we will all understand this in the coming months.

For some the eclipse brings temporary and simplistic solutions to how they perceive the situation (sextile), but it will not resolve their inner doubts (cross), as eventually their desires (New Moon) will be eliminated (Eclipse) by the pressure (Square) of reality.

For others however, this eclipse will mean a renewal of their Faith and Hope (Jupiter ruler of the eclipse). The Third Eye will open… they will see the Truth. (Sagittarius).

Exaggerations? Not at all…

In the last eclipse of the year, the last eclipse on this axis, and happens near the last exact square of Saturn to Uranus which occurs on December 24th 2021. We all take our test these critical days….

After all, Sagittarius is the Path of Discipleship…

that either leads to the Tower of Wisdom, or to God…

The World is sifting (*) …   (*) Elder Monk, Simon Arvanitis

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 17 JUNE 2019: The Dream Catcher

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 17 JUNE 2019

The Full Moon takes place at 25°and 53’ of the Sagittarius Sign. It strongly affects Sagittarius and Gemini Signs which are born in the third decan, as well as those having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 23° – 27° degrees of the Mutable Cross.

In addition to the above this complex Full Moon brings difficulties for Cancer, Aries and Libra Signs born near the end of the second and the beginning of the third decan and is beneficial for Pisces, Taurus, and Capricorn Signs of the same days.

A full moon that’s like a shimmering spider web takes place on the night of the 17th of June.

This full moon juxtaposes inspiration and belief in our dreams with frustration and delays. On one side it fills us with a renewed belief, a sense that there is the potential for our aspirations to manifest and to be realized, while at the same time it emphasizes the toil and hardship of the everyday life and everything that holds us back.

The chart of the Full Moon is one of the most complicated of the year.

Each full moon brings to the fore a need which, depending on the extent that it has been fulfilled brings completion and satisfaction or tension and crisis.

This Full Moon takes place in the Sign of Sagittarius, with the Sun in Gemini and the Moon opposite, giving emphasis on issues that have to do with education, traveling, teaching, philosophy, writing and publishing.

Take good notice on the houses that this Full Moon activates in your personal horoscope because during the days following the full moon it is very possible that information on issues that relates to these houses may come out, helping you with valuable knowledge and revealing of higher truths.

The Moon in the chart of this lunation is in a good state, and the part of your chart ruled by the Moon, that area of life, will benefit from this Full Moon for the next two weeks.

Moon is conjunct Jupiter, leaving from a conjunction to the planet just the day before. Whatever part of your life this moon is highlighting will come to emphasis BUT cautiousness is needed not to overreact or to overthink because at the same time Jupiter is opposite Sun.

This involvement of the Jupiter in the full moon is the backbone of the chart. It gives a liberating and exhilarating sense but all the optimism has to be grounded and we have to be careful not to over-estimate our abilities.

This is exactly the catch of this Full Moon in Sagittarius. It has a duality and balances evenly between the light and the dark energy.

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 17 JUNE 2019

Upon the backbone of the Jupiter and Full Moon axis, two different webs are weaved.

The tangled one is the opposition between the Pluto – Saturn conjunction in Capricorn and the Mars – Mercury conjunction in Cancer. This is the dark side. It mainly affects Cancer, Aries and Libra Signs born near the end of the second and the beginning of the third decan.

The following aspects are the thick cobwebs of this side:

Mars opposition to Pluto. An aspect that may manifest in violence, physical intensity, uncontrollable passion, intense and dark sexuality, or mere fighting and shouting. If you get caught in the web of this negativity try to use your psychological power to get free and express any surge with the most constructive way possible.

Mars opposition to Saturn brings frustration and delays. We want to act and to put into action the unstoppable drive that the previous mentioned Mars opposition Pluto aspect gives, and we cannot. Obligations holds us back. The time holds us back. For some it may bring clash with figures of authority or the law. It is an aspect that requires disciplined action.

Mercury opposition to Saturn is difficulties and boundaries in us expressing us we want. Our mode of thinking is checked by someone that has authority or is a father figure. We feel the optimism of the Moon conjunct Jupiter aspect, that as we have said is core in this Full Moon in Sagittarius, we are over the top with excitement (Sun opposition Jupiter), but certain persons or the circumstances appear to declare that “Υou cannot”, filling us with pessimism. Lighten up your thinking with faith in your abilities (Mercury is also trine to Neptune in Pisces).

Mercury opposition to Pluto is the fixation of the mind. The obsessive compulsion that we feel to do it in our own way and get it done as we think it should be done, that unfortunately clashes with the delays and the frustration described in the other aspects.

Thick is the web as it seems….

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 17 JUNE 2019

But on this complex chart all of the above aspects are aided by the Wedge formation that the planets make with Neptune on 18°43 Pisces. Neptune is the dream itself, the enlightenment and the inspiration. It is the lucid dream that contrasts the nightmare and is mainly felt by Pisces, Taurus, and Capricorn Signs born near the end of the second and the beginning of the third decan.

Mercury trine Neptune eases the mind from the compulsion described before as long as we have faith. It is in simple words an aspect that says that it’s the right time to think on our dreams and get inspired by them.

Neptune trine Mars is creativity, inspired action, charm, motivation and spirituality. It is courageous spirit towards a higher goal and the sense of fulfillment when one is in tune with the universe.

Neptune sextile Saturn helps with the grounding of the energy described above. Once inspired and having set our creativity towards the chosen goal, the aspect gives us the patience and the ability to be realistic about the circumstances and the opportunities that will be presented.

Neptune sextile Pluto is the very subtle psychic ability to tap into the dream world. A generational aspect that is mainly associated with the New Age or the modern Spirituality, which in this chart plays the role of the intuitive call towards what our soul desires.

Towards the dream.

… These are the delicate webs, shimmering and beautifully lit.

And last, one final thread the Jupiter square Neptune aspect, that holds the dream as it is, checking it, calling us to pay attention because great expectations may  bring great disillusions.

NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 7 DECEMBER 2018

The New Moon takes place at 15°07’ of the Sign of Sagittarius. It mainly affects Sagittarius and Gemini persons and also Virgo and Pisces persons which are born in the second decan, as well as those having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 13° – 17° degrees of the Mutable Cross.

A grandiose and illusive New Moon takes place on December the 7th in the Sign of Sagittarius.

Every New Moon marks a beginning. It is the proper period to start something or to plant the seeds of the new.

It is the perfect time to set our goals and aspirations. To filter them through the prism of the Zodiac Sign in which the New Moon is taking place, and to apply them to the area of our life that the House which the New Moon activates represents in our natal chart.

When the New Moon occurs in the enthusiastic and expansive Sagittarius Sign, it usually brings a renewal in spirits and a widening of our perception. It is a moon that fills us with optimism and makes us turn to the future, helping us to grasp the big picture.

This New Moon on December 7th is a mixture of exuberance and sparkling allure.

It has at its core the deceptive combined with the lavishly grandiose.

It looks like an invitation to attend the cosmopolitan party that takes place in the majestic mansion.

There, excitedly, we explore the garden and vast space. We talk to everyone, get to know each other and have fun. As the hours pass, the sweet drunkenness of the evening makes us all the more relaxed.

Our mood is tipsy, we attract glances and we vibe with sexual appeal. Within the haze of the drunken hour,  we do not understand that what we are seeing around us is not what it seems, and that the persons we get acquainted with, lead a life of exaggeration. They are here just seeking the experience for the sake of experience, in an effort to fill in their inner void or their vanity.

It is on the next day and without remembering exactly what happened during last night, that with a hangover we are trying to reassemble our thoughts and recollect.

“I’ve been drunk for about a week, and I thought sitting in the library would make me again sober.”

– F. Scott Fitzgerald, “The Great Gatsby”

What I wrote in the previous lines conveys in a characteristic manner the essence of this New Moon in Sagittarius. A moon in which Neptune’s participation is very intense.

The energy of this New Moon is expressed from three different poles.

a. Excitement and Exaggeration.

The New Moon takes place in the Sign of Sagittarius. This by itself is adequate enough to fill us with optimism, spontaneity, craving for travel and having new experiences, but is also capable to give recklessness or lack of moderation. All traits of the enthusiastic Sagittarius.

Jupiter is also in the sign of Sagittarius and in a conjunction aspect to the New Moon. The aspect may be separating and at a not close distance of  8° 44’ , but nevertheless it manages to color the New Moon, all the more, since Jupiter is also the planet ruling this lunation.

Cheerfulness, enthusiasm, cosmopolitan flair, desiring to go out and have fun, all in a buoyant, boisterous mood and allegro hype.

The reason I emphasize that all this will be felt with enough exaggeration, is that planet Jupiter, dignified in the Sign it rules, does not channel its energy anywhere else, but only towards the two Lights. The lights themselves are only making hard, square and sesquisquare aspects and as a result the Jovian energy is expressed in its less positive.

b. Seductive Intoxication

Mars and Neptune are in close conjunction in the Sign of Pisces.

On its own, this is an aspect that combines mystery with Zen inertia. It expresses artistically, gives ambivalent sexuality or a unisex sex appeal. It is an aspect of a dreamy masculinity that entails fraudulent actions.

This Mars – Neptune conjuction is like a seducing smile.

NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS 7 DECEMBER 2018

Mars and Neptune are at the same time at square aspects to the New Moon.

Here we don’t have planet Mars alone, which makes a square with the Sun and the Moon, and so creating tension, agitation, irritation or aggression. We have a Mars that having adopted the Zen of Pisces, is becoming seductively mysterious under the influence of Neptune.

So…place the energy of Mars-Neptune upon the cosmopolitan mood and excitement that I have described before, and the party begins!

Into the mix there is also Neptune square to the Sun, an aspect that gives idealism, quixotic pursuits and an altered sense of ego.

There is also the square of Neptune to the Moon, which brings non-rational reactions, emotional sensitivity and an escapist idiosyncrasy.

So…the party goes on, in mood of inebriation. We will seduce and we will be seduced. Just, let us be careful not to feel intense disappointment, when the next morning comes.

3. Independence and expenses

Uranus in opposition to Venus has already brought the element of independence in what we like and in how we relate.

It is an opposition that has been in action since last September. The aspect was exact once more, while Venus was retrograde within Scorpio, and it was repeated for the third time, with Venus being direct, a few days before this New Moon.

So… for those relationships that have survived the test of the previous period, caution is now needed, because the New Moon gives in to relaxation, diffusion and an appetite for romantic adventures, which when combined with the Venus opposition Uranus aspect, may easily cause relationship cracks.

This is an opposition that can also bring sudden expenses or even surprises and excitement in our love life, in the case we are single. But any new contacts will not be having long-term prospects.

It is an opposition, which in my opinion plays an important role in the chart of this New Moon, since Uranus is placed at the same degree with the Moon’s Nodes, and at the same degree with planet Mercury that is ready to go direct in the Sign of Sagittarius.

Uranus in square to the Nodes, and Mercury in a trine-sextile aspect to them, just as it comes out of its retrograde motion, is a combination of aspects that reminds us suddenly that we must accept the changes with an open mind. We are coming out of the revision process of the previous days, and though the headache lingers a little more, we will soon be able to make sober decisions, looking towards the future.

Epilogue

The New Moon in Sagittarius on December the 7th is ideal to renew us and make us relax. It seems to be a moon that favors light-hearted fun and escaping by traveling or by reading a good book.

But it is also a moon that calls for our attention to some matters, depending on the house which it activates in our astrological map.

  • It is a New Moon that does not favor new beginnings or plans that need practical and solid foundations.
  • It is a New Moon in which we must be careful not to act with over-enthusiasm and excessive optimism since we find it difficult to realistically assess the situations.
  • Finally, it would be advisable, that we take care to not overdo it with drinking and revelry, be on alert for deceptive loves, viroses and abuses, because all these may easily result in fatigue and emotional exhaustion.

That’s why the following sentence from the novel “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, comes to my mind, as it perfectly sums up the energy of this New Moon.

“I’ve been drunk for about a week, and I thought sitting in the library would make me again sober.”

Gatsby did not manage to make it sober.

We can.

I wish you all to have a fantastic New Moon.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS – JUPITER IN PISCES: JUPITER’S MYSTICAL RULERSHIPS

Sharing is caring:

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

GET YOUR OWN READING!

Jupiter when placed in the Signs of its rulership, Sagittarius or Pisces, is operating in the same Mutable mode but being in a different Element, it expresses differently.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

In Sagittarius, Jupiter expands Gnosis, expands our mind to open and reach out towards wisdom, through the acceptance and acknowledgment of the multiple and different forms and ideas in the material world.

Here Jupiter calls us on a quest for self-discovery, a broadening of our mind and our horizons, with an accumulation of real life experiences through travelling, studying or reading.

The process of expansion is external and is lived as an outlet for the fiery passion of the sign to live life at its fullest.

Travel and enjoy life, embrace new cultures, explore new opportunities, learn more and more, adopt a philosophy or a religious system.

All are possible ways to expand Gnosis, knowledge and yourself. Jupiter here becomes passionate and acts in good faith. A faith in Life.

The person with Jupiter here in the natal chart, may have deep ethics, religious views or be a real cosmopolitan, with a passionate warm nature, optimistic, generous and over enthusiastic.

Jupiter in Sagittarius, on his unskilled side or if the planet is making many hard aspects in the native’s natal chart, may give a tendency to the person to wander unceasingly without rooting somewhere, and to accumulate an excess of experiences for the sake of experiences only, without judging if they are ethical or expedient.

Jupiter here may be William Blake, the painter, saying:

“The path of excess leads to the tower of wisdom”

JUPITER IN PISCES

In Pisces Jupiter evolves and sustains Belief, expands the sub-conscious, and reaches out towards universal energy and acceptance of the transient nature of reality.

Here Jupiter calls us on a quest for self-discovery through the broadening of the faculty of empathy, that bestows understanding, compassion for others, and elevates the psyche to higher vibrations.

The process of expansion is internal.

It is not outright visible, but many times hidden or mystical and is lived as an outlet for the psychological need of the Sign of Pisces to be Inspired.

The person with Jupiter here in the natal chart, may be a deeply religious person, a pious one, or a spiritual guru, or someone who has a strong faith in man’s inherent ability to love truly and devoutly.

Jupiter here may be William Blake, the mystical poet, saying:

“If the doors of perception were cleansed

everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.”

“If a thing loves, it is infinite.”

Jupiter in Pisces on his unskilled side, or if the planet is making many hard aspects in the native’s natal chart, may give a tendency to the person to easily believe and be beguiled, may give excessive daydreaming, escapism or to make a person over-react towards the need of others.

THE POET AND PAINTER, WILLIAM BLAKE

William Blake (November 28, 1757 – August 12, 1827) was one of the most important English poets and also painter, engraver, illustrator, mystic and visionary. It is often referred to as the “Prophet” of English literature and is among the major poets of world literature.

P.S. Interestingly enough William Blake has Jupiter in Sagittarius!

FULL MOON IN GEMINI NOVEMBER 2018

FULL MOON IN GEMINI NOVEMBER 2018: “Laissez faire, laissez passer”

Sharing is caring:

FULL MOON IN GEMINI NOVEMBER 2018

The Full Moon takes place at 00°and 52’ of the Gemini Sign. It strongly affects Gemini and Sagittarius Signs and also Pisces and Virgo Signs which are born in the first days, as well as those having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 00° – 02° degrees of the Mutable Cross.

The proximity of the Full Moon to the last degrees of the Fixed Cross affects also Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius persons that are born in the last 2 days of their Sign, or those hose having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 28°-29° degrees of the Fixed Cross.

A Full Moon in Gemini is taking place on the night of the 22nd towards the early morning of November the 23rd.

When the Moon is in Gemini we are expressing of our needs. We feel, we remember, we think. Nostalgia and emotions turns into words. We intellectually tune with the emotional self and now it is the proper time for all this heightened emotional sensitivity to be expressed.

With the Sun in Sagittarius opposing the moon in Gemini these needs are highlighted, thoughts are rationalized and become aims and expectations. Expectations of a higher nature, desires of a self that is yearning to learn and be wise.

At least, this would be the ideal scenario for a Full Moon in Gemini, but unfortunately it is not the case with this Full Moon. A Full Moon that takes place within a grid of planetary energies and aspects that bring excesses and overreactions.

Request your Astrology Reading by Andrew Ifandis

First of all the ruler of the Full Moon, Mercury in the Sign of Sagittarius, is retrograde. This at its best makes our thoughts to turn introspective. We try to find our inner truth and contemplate on matters silently.

At its worst, Mercury’s placement in the Sign of Sagittarius makes us highly opinionated. Judgmental and sticking to doctrine. We think that our truth is the only truth and we tend to glibly express it.

As if this tendency for bluntness was not enough, Jupiter is also conjunct to Mercury retrograde. The mind reels in its inward thinking process, contemplating so many things, and as it strives to assimilate everything into an objective truth, it jumps to overstatements and exaggerations.

We therefore have to be very careful with WHAT we say and HOW we say it.

Mercury is also square to Neptune in Pisces.

Our judgment is clouded. A mist lingers on the tracks of the unceasing train of thoughts. We cannot think clearly, the mind detaches and loses its objective footholds, sliding to fantasy land, daydreaming.

Under this hazy landscape we may be the victims of misconceptions or be deceived. We have to be very careful in all matters that require precision of thought and clear judgment, and it is better to delay decisions till later.

Jupiter is also conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon.

Though the first aspect brings optimism, generosity, and enthusiasm, the opposition with the Moon, especially now that the moon is full in a polarity that highlights our emotional needs, brings overwhelming sentimentality.

Remember that under a full moon emotions are always tense.  The Jupiter conjunct Sun enthusiasm in its heart entails an overestimated confidence in ourselves and our abilities. A faith in us that may turn out to be just a result of cloudy judgment (Mercury Rx square Neptune) and that will make us not to know where we stop.

We have to be careful not to be deceived out of sheer faith in the good intentions of others.

We must remember not to over emphasize our needs and be intolerant to other’s views.

FULL MOON IN GEMINI NOVEMBER 2018

The above scenery becomes more dynamic by Mars’s involvement in the Full Moon as the planet of action and energy is making a T-Square with the Two Lights. In addition to this, Mars is also square to Mercury and square to Jupiter.

When planet Mars is in the Sign of Pisces, and does not make enough harmonious aspects so as to channel its energy with creativity or compassion, it usually expresses in a passive – aggressive way. It may even express with non-action, preferring to let things to take their own course. It is lack of will and indecisiveness towards specific action.

As the apex planet of this T-Square, Mars is gathering the energy of the planets involved in the following aspects and possible manifestations of its energy are:

  • Mars square to Moon: We may be oversensitive and easily hurt. adopting the role of the martyr. On its assertive way the aspect may bring anger and emotional frustration.
  • Sun square to Mars: We may act impulsively, assert our ego ten times more than necessary fueled by zeal and intolerance. On its passive expression, with this aspect we may adopt an impasse “Laissez faire, laissez passer” inertia.
  • Mercury square to Mars. Disagreements and verbal confrontations may rise out of us not taking action! Others may interpret our waiting inactivity or silence, as something negative. Misjudgments and cloudy thinking may make us angered and we project this to our relations with important others.
  • Mars square to Jupiter: Impulsive actions, carelessness or recklessness due to overconfidence. On its passive expression it is an aspect of blunders and waste of energy. It may also be spiritual and philosophical disagreements. Even awkward expression of sexuality that is infused with semi-romanticism and hesitance.

Mars from Pisces squaring the Full Moon is intense emotional charge without a clear outlet. It may bring passive anger that eventually manifests psychosomatically.

The only aspect that can somehow clear the ground and bring focus and determination is Mars sextile Saturn.

FULL MOON IN GEMINI NOVEMBER 2018 GR

The challenge of this Full Moon in Gemini is that it is a perplexed mix of wasted energy and exaggeration.

While it highlights our need to communicate, our very message is something that becomes really difficult to come through, within the above landscape where clarity of thought and direction of will is lacking. Boisterous, we may overestimate ourselves or say words that we’d better not.

As the song goes, “Words are very unnecessary…” and most probably our attempts to speak or act will only result in misinterpretation and misunderstandings.

It is thus important to remain focused.  We should better be cautious and avoid verbal conflicts and tensions within this boggy mutable energy.

What we need to do:

  • Every effort of communication is useful to be attempted with the objectivity that Gemini has, being an air Sign.
  • We should better first examine how realistic are the emotions that we want to express or the judgments that we make.
  • We should try to see the other’s side with the wisdom of Sagittarius.
  • Yes, we should express our wants and needs, but we are called upon to do this without emotional involvement, objectively and by avoiding preconceptions and doctrines, blind faith and dogmatism.
  • We should carefully decide on our course of action and be on the alert for misjudgments, being deceived, or being lied to by others.

This Full Moon in Gemini is calling us to accept that there is inner tension and that the better way to handle it is to try to ease our temper, act with moderation instead of exaggeration, rely on patience and self-control, and double-check our own, as well as others’ words, intentions and promises.
