The New Moon takes place in 17°and 00’ of the perfectionist Sign of Virgo. It strongly affects Virgo and Pisces Signs and also Gemini and Sagittarius Signs which are born in the second decan, as well as those having personal planets, points or their Ascendant, near the 15° -19° degrees of the Mutable Cross. The strong Earth Element and Water Element of this New Moon also affects all Water and Earth Signs.

On the 9th of September a New Moon is taking place in the Sign of Virgo.

The New Moon falls exactly on the 17° degree (that means 17° 00’), something that, if we symbolically think about it, is extraordinarily suitable to the love for precision that the Virgo Sign has. As if this was not enough the 17th degree of the mutable signs is what in astrology called, a critical degree, and planets placed here are emphasized for better or worse.

So we have a really extraordinary New Moon that has a strong emphasis on the Virgoan themes.

This New Moon now, is the perfect time to set out and take care of material, pragmatic world tasks, as the energy has shifted even more to the Earth element ,with seven bodies there while still three bodies in Water.

This polarity of the pragmatic and the idealized is reflected in the main aspect of Neptune in Pisces opposing the New Moon. This is an aspect that may play out in various ways depending on how well we can integrate the energies involved.

It can for example combine humility of ego and the need to be of service to important others with a little bit of idealizing. This could be very helpful because the idealization element will greatly lessen the excessive pedantic criticism and the perfectionism usually demanded from others, traits of the Virgo individuals. So it can help our relationships setting new standards of communication.

At the same time two trine aspects, one in the Water element between Jupiter and Neptune, and the other in the Earth element between Sun-Moon and Pluto, ease once more the Neptune – New Moon opposition.

Another formation that works very helpful in the intricately woven aspect patterns in the chart of this New Moon in Virgo,  is the Grand trine in Earth between, Mercury in Virgo, Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus.

With this particular Full Moon on the 26th of August, this balance is easily achieved, since this archetypal contrast, as expressed by the polarity of the Sun and Moon, is the backbone of a very favorable aspect pattern that in astrology is called “Kite”.

Although the chart of this Full Moon in Pisces is actually very complex – since at least four basic aspect patterns can be found within the aspects’ formations, the favorable trines and sextiles that constitute the Kite are dominant making this formation the basic element of our interpretation.

A Grand Trine between the Sun, Saturn and Uranus in the Earth Signs, forms the Kite’s main body.

This trine effortlessly grounds the transcendental idealism of the Moon in Pisces (situated at the tail of the Kite), and sets for us the foundations to materialize our dream in a practical level, as long as we adhere to the following:

We express ourselves by serving (Virgo) our ideal (Pisces), but we do it having complete consciousness (Sun) of what is our personal truth (Uranus), and what is which will make us feel really safe (Sun trine to Uranus in Taurus).

At the same time, we accept, that whichever our own truth is, it entails responsibilities (Saturn).

It is a truth that, in order to serve our dream (Moon in Pisces), should be accompanied by goals (Moon sextile Saturn in Capricorn), allow independent expression (Moon sextile Uranus in Taurus) and most importantly, give us the necessary self-discipline (Sun trine Saturn) to carry out the demands it presents.

An example to illustrate the beneficial effect that this Full Moon can have on a self-discovery level, is that of a married woman who feels the need to escape in a romantic journey with her lover.

The psychological pressure caused by the practical difficulties of making the hidden and craving journey a reality, – since it confronts with the reactions of her husband or of her parents and spoil her dream, is solved, as she faces her own personal truth.

Does she wants to escape just to live an adventure or her personal truth is that she really does not want to be married anymore and the lover is the excuse for the ending her marriage?

Being aware of her truth shows what the next practical steps are.

If it is the first case, means that it would be good for her to accept that all this is just a dream of fleeing and to begin working on her marriage with responsibility and self-discipline, while expressing at the same time her individual nature by claiming her personal space and freedom. (Saturn trine to Uranus as part of the Kite pattern).

If, on the other hand, her truth is the second case, then she must find the self-discipline to communicate how she really feels to spouse and parents and to accept the consequences by divorcing, and fulfilling her dream for a new state of being, free, and responsibly independent.

The above example is of course schematic and in no way encourages anyone to divorce.

It is an example to demonstrate how complex and interrelated processes this Full Moon in Pisces brings. Beginning with the dream and through the formation of the “Kite”, it eventually creates new situations and renews us with responsibility and freedom of action.

This is a Full Moon that is beneficial for all of us, depending on where it falls on our personal horoscope, as it combines,

  • inspiration,
  • vision,
  • a sense of responsibility and
  • awareness of our truth.

The full moon at Virgo takes place on the night of March the 1st, with the two Lights in full opposition at 00:51 into March the 2nd.

If we take a glance on the chart of the Full Moon, the first thing that impresses us is that the Moon stands on her own within the Sign of Virgo.

A Virgo Moon is a Moon that makes us want to analyze how we feel. Sentiments pass through the sieve, everything is categorized and scrutinized. Every need is rationalized and analyzed. We do this, not in an attempt to deny and distance ourselves from our emotions, but instead in an attempt to find out, how what is that we feel, can also serve us on a practical level.

This is the modus operandi of the Moon in the Sign of Virgo. She is a woman in the loom that her need for warmth makes her act by weaving meticulously a layer to cover the bare floor.

Opposite the Moon, within the infinite vastness of the Sign of Pisces, Sun and Neptune are in conjunction. The ultimate ideal. The methexis of existence with the Dionysian element. Mercury from Pisces has an important astrological role in this Full Moon since it rules the Moon in Virgo and thus directly affecting our emotional response to the lunar energy.

The planet’s close conjunction aspect with Venus and the wider one with Chiron has as affect the transforming of the analytical and meticulous mental categorization of our emotions into a more abstract process. Sentiments reach for the romantic ideal, words are incantations that heal, and we want to express ourselves artistically and creatively.

Jupiter from Scorpio is making a trine aspect to Mercury, Venus, and Chiron, magnifying the transcendent element of the moment and at the same time giving a moral weight to our thoughts and desires.

So, on the one hand, we have our everyday needs, which we are called upon to find the means to cover, and on the other hand we want the unattainable and the ideal. This Full Moon awakens intense feelings in us and makes us nervous because it invite us to find the way to serve the ideal.

The “Ideal” love is a love where we learn to serve.

The “Ideal” work does not exist but nonetheless we can work towards our personal vision without depriving ourselves of the means to make a living.

“Dreamlike” relationships do not exist but every proper relationship must have truth, morality and inspire us both mentally and practically.

The Virgo New Moon takes place at 27°27′ of the sign on September the 20th 2017.

The lunation’s chart has a strong emphasis on the Earth element and vibrates intensely the energy of Virgo, since not only the Lights, but also Mercury, Venus and Mars are gathered within the first half of the maiden zodiac sign. It is now the most appropriate time to deal with any obligations and pending issues that require our attention and have been neglected, but it is also the right time for us to begin making improvements on how we live our everyday life.

Actions relating to our physical condition, our health, working conditions, new jobs and projects that require patience and dedication, seeking for employment , setting things straight and making practical moves are particularly favoured by this New Moon.

Yes all these are boring, especially after the vacation time, but now it is the time to organize and put things in order.

Mercury in the sign of his exaltation will function with detail and with perfectly logic, compensating fully for any tendencies of “flight” that Neptune that is in opposition brings. Mars conjunct Mercury will make us think with precision and will give skill in our actions. Our thoughts will easily discern what is it that needs to be done and more importantly how it will come to be realized.

At the sentimental level, with Venus having just entered Virgo, in the sign of its fall and quincunx with Chiron,  we are still experiencing as “wounds” the revisions and decisions we have made in the past weeks. The New Moon itself is in opposition to Chiron at 26 ° Pisces, reinforcing a pattern of wounding and subsequent healing,  that we have seen many times in the last years that Chiron is in Pisces.

But that is precisely the lesson we are supposed to get.

How it is that we experience our feelings and the way we relate has to be more practical and less of a daydreaming or illusion, so as that our relationships to become more balanced. It is through this process of cleansing that we may find the awaited renewal to our relationships, something that is aided by the trine that Venus makes with Uranus.
